Shaheen Introduces Energy Efficiency Act
|Shaheen Introduces Energy Efficiency Act to Create Jobs and Save Small Businesses Money|
|U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, introduced The Small Business Energy Efficiency Act (S.1756), which would help small businesses reduce energy costs by adding a SBA 504 policy goal.
“Energy costs can be a significant challenge for small businesses as they try and grow and create jobs,” Shaheen said. “This legislation would help small businesses overcome that hurdle by providing access to financing for energy efficiency improvements. This will create jobs, save small businesses money and reduce pollution. We’ve seen that there is overwhelming bipartisan support for energy efficiency legislation in Congress and I hope we can act quickly on this bill on behalf of small businesses and our environment.”
|At a Senate Small Business Committee hearing yesterday, Sen. Shaheen discussed the great work the 504 program already does in energy efficiency and the ways this bill will help expand those opportunities. The Alliance to Save Energy also testified that 504 is a very effective tool for small businesses who want to finance energy investments.|
